I heard a news story recently that stated that 75% of all wildlife has disappeared since 1950 or something like that. Can you elaborate on this, please?

You’re likely thinking of reports about the decline in vertebrate populations, not the disappearance of all wildlife.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) publishes a biennial Living Planet Report that tracks trends in the abundance of monitored vertebrate species (mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians). Their 2022 report found that monitored populations had declined by an average of 69% between 1970 and 2018. This is a staggering statistic and highlights the significant impact human activities have had on the planet’s biodiversity.

It’s important to note that this doesn’t mean 75% of all individual animals have disappeared, but rather that the size of the studied populations has decreased by that amount on average. Some populations will have declined more, some less, and some may even have increased.

I have lately been constructing arguments against God and the supernatural. I have proven that stuff doesn't exist with science equations. I aspire to be great.
