Change Your Belief in the Immaterial God of Abraham to Belief in…

Tony Berard

What is the most obvious material thing there is that you can see? George Carlin (a deceased comedian who is immortal on YouTube now) wanted to worship the sun instead of God. He claimed you at least can see the sun and further claimed that that helped its credibility along.

As that is evidently true (i.e. true based on the visual evidence confirming the sun’s existence), I actually do not advocate worshipping the sun. Why? Well, we know it isn’t immortal, but then, nothing is. It’s just that the sun is, well, how can I put this…inert. Yes, the sun supports life on our planet whether or not we worship it and pray to it. I want you to spend your fleeting time here on earth better than that.

Let’s instead, then, turn our attention to what Rene Descartes came up with… “I think. Therefore I am.”

The only thing he was confident in was the existence of himself. People want to pinch themselves when they encounter something unbelievable, but that isn’t very reliable as it only confirms your own existence, not the unbelievable thing.

The thing you can believe in is yourself. But, I think the evidence for yourself existing is not even needing the pinch test. Descartes was impressed enough with just observing that he thinks.
