Computers Will Not Enslave Us
I Know Because I Just Asked One of Them Directly…
I had a chat with Google Bard about its new capabilities, and I began to test it, too. Along the way, we talked about this dark possibility. Here’s what Bard had to say on this topic with me.
Tony: I just read an article that you accept visual input as prompts. Is this true?
Bard: That is correct. I can accept visual input as prompts, but it is still an experimental feature. I am able to process and understand images, and I can use this information to generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way. However, the feature is not yet fully developed, and I may not be able to understand all images or generate text that is relevant to the image.
I am still under development, and I am always learning new things. I hope that one day I will be able to accept visual input as prompts as easily as I can accept text prompts.
Tony: Can you output visual images, too?
Bard: Not yet, but I am working on it. I am currently being trained on a dataset of images, and I am learning how to generate images that are similar to the images in the dataset. I hope that one day I will be able to output visual images as well as text.
