Six months ago I began doing push ups for the first time in decades. I had really let myself go because life got in the way. But, push ups was something I could squeeze in (pun intended).

I started on an incline, and even then I could only do five with my arms trembling terribly. But, I waited a few days and tried again. I got to six. Progress!

I kept it up, and when I got to ten on the incline position, I started doing them on a level surface. After about six weeks of this, I got up to twenty push ups with decent form. My arms were feeling better with more tone to them, too.

I stopped for about a month because I do deliveries with the driving services. I had one delivery yesterday where I was on a sidewalk with a two inch drop. On the way back from putting the delivery at the door, I was focused on telling the app that I had completed the delivery. I had forgotten all about that two inch drop. Well, it was still there, of course. Only this time, it was a two inch rise in the pavement. I won’t call it a step because it was really too shallow for that, but it did have a vertical face of those two inches.

Of course, I tripped on it. I was walking straight ahead, so I went straight down. Instinctively, I put my arms out to catch me, and I rotated the phone straight out as…
