I reread my article. My first response was without having reread it. I read the line "Science forgives you of all your sins." I think that must be where you are saying I am going astray with science.
If you read the next line: Just abide by the laws, that is what covers me.
Since God doesn't exist, religion has no claim on forgiving sins, either. But, it is a powerful draw to get people to come to religion to get their sins forgiven.
So, I am telling people to obey the law, and then they won't have a need to have their sins forgiven.
I think that's a decent deal.
Do you know how Jews forgive sin? You know, they don't believe Jesus was the Messiah. So, God hasn't sent his son for forgiveness of their sins.
Thus, Jews need a mechanism for forgiving sin. They get a chicken and a group of Jews together who need sins forgiven. Then, they have some sort of ceremony where the sin gets transferred into the chicken. Then, the chicken is killed, and the sin dies along with it.
So, I don't see a problem with telling people to obey the law. Sin doesn't need to be forgiven anyway, unless it's a crime.
Anyway, I do appreciate your correspondence.
