Medium, Did You Really Let a Paper on Suicide Win?

I also submitted a paper in the Death category. My paper was on the death of chess with an argument made that chess would Phoenix into my new board game Fighting Chess. Her paper (the winning paper was written by a lady) was on the death of her grandmother at age 74 — by suicide.

Am I heartless? No, of course not. Her experience was a real tragedy. She went into great detail about the event itself and its aftermath. She included a lot of description of what it felt and sounded like. Was the writing itself good? Yes, I cannot argue with Medium on that account. But, my writing was at least its equal.

I didn’t even get an honorable mention. Were those the ones who got a hundred bucks? That would have been nice. It isn’t $60,000 grand like the lady got, but still. I could have been able to brag about it a little. Instead I got nothing. Nothing.

Nothing.

Will I ever enter a Medium contest again? I probably will. It’s certainly better than a lottery ticket. There were only a few thousand entries, so I had one chance in a few thousand at $60,000. A lottery gives you much worse odds than that.

So, why am I on Medium? Their tagline says you can reach millions of readers. Really? I am not seeing it. I have been on over six months. I have 31 followers as of this writing. I get less than 200 views per week. Very few people click the follow button for me.

I have lately been constructing arguments against God and the supernatural. I have proven that stuff doesn't exist with science equations. I aspire to be great.
