Firouzja Just Passed 2800 on the Live Rating List: And, I Saw That in Norway Chess 2021 (Check it Out).
Magnus Carlsen (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_Carlsen) wins it, but we have two new entrants into the world’s top 10: Alireza Firouzja (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alireza_Firouzja) and Richard Rapport (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich%C3%A1rd_Rapport).
Richard Rapport led most of the way through the tournament, but he lost his stamina at the end. Both Carlsen and Firouzja won their final four matches to overtake Rapport to get first place and second place, respectively.
I will do this tournament a little later on today with my rating system to see if we get any greatness scores. So, stay tuned for that!
Well, a couple of weeks have elapsed, but here we are. Because Norway 2021 was run with Armageddon games in the attempt to eliminate draws, I ran a number of analyses with the games. One such was counting the Armageddon games as half games and as decisive games. Both alternatives left me flat. So, I decided the best thing to do was just count only the classical games. FIDE also only counted the classical time control games when adjusting player ratings. So, if we do that we get the following input and output to my program.
