The Moral Compass and Crime
Testing the Claim that Secular Societies Have Lower Crime Rates
14 min readDec 15, 2024
This is a difficult to research topic. So, I enlisted Advanced Google Gemini Pro with Deep Research to research this. I will show my interactions with it along with the research report it generated. It’s findings are encapsulated at the end with my final interaction with it.
I have heard it said that crime is higher in religious areas over secular areas. Can you bring some evidence to bear upon this claim? Christianity likes to claim that it is their moral code from God that keeps them from doing bad things to others and without it people would be like wild animals. Primarily keep this inquiry to Christianity versus secularism, but feel free to include Islam if something salient is found.
Here’s a research plan for that topic. If you need to update it, let me know!
