The origin has been solved. We know the universe started from a singularity contained in a quantum fluctuation. This quantum fluctuation became the Big Bang. It underwent a period of inflation. After some period of time (like 100K years or something), the universe was no longer opaque, and it is the closest we can actually see to the Big Bang.

We do know the origin story. Science is just haggling over minor details. What is the big thing now is dark matter, dark energy, and uniting the four forces of nature. Theology will not come through with these answers, I assure you.
