What Exactly Is Pushing Up the Flat Earth? Is It the Hand of God?
Let Me Introduce You to Albert Einstein
Before we meet Mr. Einstein, we need to review the anti-gravity claim of the Flat Earthers. When asked why does a ball released from rest fall to the ground at the observed 32 ft/sec² (or 9.8 m/s²)? The globe earth person says that acceleration is due to the gravity of the globe earth. We can measure the effects (i.e. the same acceleration) on this Flat Earth, too. So, what causes the ball to accelerate to the ground if the earth is flat since there isn’t gravity?
The Flat Earther claims that the earth is being pushed upward at 32 ft/sec². The globe earther simply says, “No, it doesn’t work like that.” But, the globe earth person hasn’t really destroyed the argument that the Flat Earth is being pushed upward at that acceleration.
So, let us really destroy the argument, shall we?
There is a very simple physics equation relating velocity, time, and acceleration. It is v = at. Yep, that’s it. I told you it was simple. This is the equation we will use to debunk the statement that the Flat Earth is being pushed upwards at a 32 ft/sec² acceleration.
