The above two articles on Wikipedia explain what the New Atheism is and what Scientism is. So, please read them if you don’t already know about them. Our conversation picks up from there.
So, these new Atheists believe (there’s that ugly word) that religious views should be challenged with the scientific method. When this is actually done, it doesn’t bode well for religion. Admittedly, science doesn’t get it perfectly correct the first time around sometimes, but science evolves when better explanations come along. Religion doesn’t. Religion still wants you to believe in this fire and brimstone God and that your soul is going to Hell for eternity if you don’t believe.
