Why Is There Something Rather Than Nothing???
It’s a Fundamental Question, But I Will Answer It
The theists think this is a gotcha question. Since science allegedly didn’t answer the question, they do so with God did it.
But, saying God did it does not answer the question. Their answer is that a magical being cast a magical spell and poof — the universe came from literally nothing.
So, that is NOT the answer. I may not have the full answer here, but it will be a long way toward it.
Philosophy posits nothing exists. But, that doesn’t concur with science. Lawrence Krauss says nothing is not possible. What we do have are fields, which is almost nothing. In these fields we have quantum fluctuations. These quantum fluctuations happen all over the universe all the time. They also happened before the universe existed. Yes, I know time itself began at the Big Bang. And yet, because quantum fluctuations exists in fields, they must have been happening prior to our Big Bang in some sense.
At some point, a very special quantum fluctuation happened — our Big Bang. There’s a paper on Arxive.org showing how a universe can literally spring forth from nothing (a field).
Michio Kaku has done the calculations showing that our universe has zero net charge and zero net mass…
