You hear it said often that no one is above the law. Yet, we do see that this is sometimes false.

Vladimir Putin has invaded Ukraine. I hear the news reports that it was an illegal invasion. Putin said Ukraine was committing genocide against Russians in some area he had just declared with some sort of proclamation the day before.

From all accounts, that was false. Ukraine was doing no such thing. Yet, Putin invaded Ukraine anyway — illegally.

Now, the invasion has lasted over two weeks. Apparently, the Russians thought they would capture and topple Kiev in at most four days. They were wrong on that account. Ukraine is still fighting back. Along the way, Russia is killing those who are seeking safe passage in these humanitarian corridors — a war crime. Russia is bombing hospitals, and one of them was a maternity hospital. Russia (Putin) claimed that facility was taken over by terrorists. It wasn’t. Russia covers up it war crimes by lying. Bombing non-military facilities like hospitals is a war crime.

The Hague has now initiated an investigation about Russia’s war crimes, and they are going back to 2013 before Russia illegally annexed Crimea. Again, even back then Putin committed a crime by illegally annexing Crimea.
